We are here for you!

Haki Defenders Foundation (HDF )is a registered  non profit organization with Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and the NGO Bureau.

HDF is committed to promoting human rights, good governance, and democracy worldwide. Founded on the principles of equality, justice, and dignity, HDF works tirelessly to support human rights defenders (HRDs) in their critical efforts to uphold and defend the rights of all individuals.

Purpose

Our Objectives

Strengthening HRDs Capacity: HDF provides
comprehensive training, workshops, and
resources to HRDs, enabling them to enhance
their skills in security, safety, and protection
management. Through tailored programs, we
empower HRDs to navigate challenges and
risks while effectively advocating for human
rights.

Legal Aid and Pro-Bono Services: HDF offers
legal aid and pro-bono services to HRDs
facing legal challenges or persecution due to
their human rights work. Our team of experienced lawyers provides expert guidance, representation, and advocacy, ensuring that HRDs have access to the legal support they need to defend their rights and freedoms.

Advocacy and Awareness: HDF advocates for
the protection of HRDs at local, national, and
international levels. Through campaigns,
public awareness initiatives, and strategic
partnerships, we raise awareness about the
importance of safeguarding HRDs and
promoting a conducive environment for their
work.

Research and Documentation: HDF conducts
research and documentation to highlight
human rights violations, challenges facing
HRDs, and best practices in security and
protection management. By producing
evidence-based reports and publications, we
contribute to informed decision-making and
policy development in the field of human
rights.

Capacity Building for Institutions: HDF
collaborates with governments, civil society
organizations, and other stakeholders to
strengthen institutional capacity for human
rights protection and promotion. Through
training programs and technical assistance,
we support the development of policies,
mechanisms, and practices that uphold
human rights standards.
